LAHORE: Punjab Assembly on first day of its 32nd session here Monday passed unanimously a resolution against the NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) attacks on Pak Armed Forces’ checkpost in Mohmand Agency last month.
Law Minister Rana Sana Ullah Khan moved the resolution on behalf of all the parliamentary parties in the house.
The English translation of the resolution stated:
"This House of Punjab Assembly expresses profound grief and strongly
condemns and protests the NATO’s Helicopters attack on Pakistan Security Forces’ check-post in Salala areas of Mohmand Agency in the morning of November 26, 2011.
The House terms this foment action as a direct attack on the integrity and sovereignty of Pakistan.
This House pays homage to the Jawans and officers of Pak Army, who were martyred in this attack.
This House fully support the decisions, which were taken in accordance with the wishes of the people, of suspending NATO supplies, evacuation of Shamsi Airbase and boycott of Bonn Conference.
This House expresses complete solidarity with Pak Armed Forces and pledges its support to it (Pak Army)."
Earlier, speaking on the floor of the house, Opposition Leader Raja Riaz Ahmed said that Pakistan’s Armed Forces had rendered huge sacrifices than any other country’s army fighting in the global war on terrorism.
He appreciated the President, Prime Minister and the entire federal government for responding to NATO action in accordance with the wishes of the masses.
He added that PPP would never compromise on the country’s integrity and solidarity.
PML-Q Parliamentary Party Leader Chaudhry Zaheer-ud-Din hailed the role of Armed Forces that always rendered supreme sacrifices in defending the country’s frontiers.
He also appreciated the federal government’s bold initiatives after the NATO attack.
The MAA Parliamentary Party Leader Ali Haider Noor Khan Niazi also condemned the NATO attacks on Pakistani soil and paid tributes to the Armed Forces. He said, the parliamentarians, governments and the people of Pakistan expressed their complete solidarity
and stood side-by-side with the Pakistan Army.
He also demanded of the provincial government to also take care of the families of the martyred army men.
