Grimm is a fantasy American drama series that aired on October 28th, 2011 on NBC. The show is created by Stephen Carpenter, David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf and has a running time of forty-three minutes.
The new series is based on the stories of the Brothers Grimm. The story’s main character Nick Burkhardt (starred by David Giuntoli) is a homicide detective who learns that he is a descendent of a group of hunters known as ‘Grimms’. Grimms protect humans
from the supernatural creatures of the world. Burkhardt has giving task of keeping the balance between mankind and the mythological. A reformed “Big Bad wolf” Monroe (played by Silas Weir Mitchell) becomes hi ally and help him hunt the evil creatures he once
thought were only found in fairy tales.
A new science fiction drama, Grimm was announced in January 2011 by the NBC and the filming of the pilot episode began in March in Portland, Oregon. The series is produced by Universal Media Studios and Hazy Mills Productions. It is filmed on locations in
and around Portland. It was originally scheduled to air on October 21st but was delayed for a week so its premier would be closer to Halloween.
The series received mixed reviews. Review aggregator Metacritic gave a score of 55 out of 100 based on reviews from 23 critics.
Mary McNamara of The Los Angeles Times wrote that she preferred ABC’s Once Upon a Time, another fairy tale drama, to this one. She further explained that regardless of a good cast and setting, Grimm puts an "entertaining crime spin on fairy-tale monsters
that’s a little too pat" for viewers.
David Hinckley of the New York Daily News declared, “It isn’t invested deeply enough in magic to create an alternative world, and while Giuntoli is perfectly fine as a cop, the police procedural part feels routine.”
However, IMDB gave it 7.5 out of 10 based on 4,271 users.
Tim Goodman of The Hollywood Reporter said, “It has chills and humor and the ability to take a procedural story and twist it.”
Grimm is a good way to kill your free time but if you want to start a new series, try Once Upon a Time.
