Foreign Affairs Minister Hina Rabbani Khar has blamed Afghan refugees for the assassination of former Afghan President Burhanuddin Rabbani. She claimed so during the Envoys’ conference at the Foreign office in Islamabad on Tuesday.
During a question answer session at the conference, she said, “We are not responsible if Afghan refugees crossed the border and entered Kabul, stayed in a guest house and attacked Prof Rabbani.”
She proclaimed that Pakistan wanted “best relationships with Afghanistan” to maintain peace and stability by taking necessary steps against the terrorism in the region. She told that Afghanistan was the most substantial country for Pakistan as their security
was inter-connected.
Nevertheless, she stressed that it is not justified to put blame on Islamabad for every terrorist activity faced by Kabul. “Pakistan has baselessly been charged with recent attacks in Kabul. If they have any problem, Pakistan should not be made a scapegoat
by the Afghan government and other countries. We are part of the solution, and not part of the problem,” Hina Rabbani added.
She also said that our government was moving towards the revaluation of numerous facets of its foreign policy. While addressing to a question, Khar told that apart from the ambassador and three other personnel, a 36-strong office staff was performing at
the Pakistani embassy in Kabul.
In reply to a question, she told the media officials that 6,082 Pakistani nationals have returned to Pakistan, after the conditions got worsen. Rabbani stated that the government scheduled exclusive flights to bring back its nationals from Libya. However,
she said that a large number of Pakistani citizens were also repatriated from Algeria, Egypt, Tunisia and Turkey.
She confirmed that nearly 2,100 Pakistani have refused to come home and they are residing in Libya. She left the House before the conclusion of question- hour session as she had to meet with her Serbian counterpart.
She also said that a polo pony was gifted to the King of Malaysia in 2007 by the President Pervez Musharraf at their independence day and no other gift of livestock has ever been given to any high rank person by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
