The new iPad 3: Will 2012 see an improved Apple tablet? – Part 1
Wednesday, December 14th, 2011 12:06:39 by Usman KhalidThe iPad 2 is enjoying the success that the original iPad could not, due to the reason that it was a new product that needed time to get digested in the market. However, the 2011 model made record sales, broke some previous ones and really gave the competitors a run for their money.
Although the iPad 2 needs no upgrade as far as the current market is concerned. The iOS 5 topping has been good enough for leveraging the success in mobile computing and gaming on the go. However, as it goes synonymous with Apple’s culture, a new iPad is expected somewhere in the first quarter of 2012.
The talk of a new Apple product always spurs rumours, and needless to say, the next generation iPad is surrounded by some.
The 2012 model of Apple’s flagship slate is rumoured to have some upgrades that other of its products are enjoying at the moment maybe even more than that.
The trademark Retina Display was absent in the original and 2011 model of the iPad. Rumour has it that the 2012 edition will certainly incorporate the Retina Display or something in the neighbourhood of it.
The RD has a pixel density of a whopping 332 ppi (pixels per inch) in iPhone 4/4S and iPod Touch 2010 and 2011 models. But this mesmerizing feature is yet to be seen in the tablet for the reason that the circuitry in the 10-inch slate cannot hold such density
without compromising the thickness or thinness in this case. The iPad 2 is dramatically thinner, even slim than an iPhone 4, and it is always a tug-of-war between Apple and thickness.
In this regard, what Apple might come close to is a QXGA display with a density of 264 ppi, if not Retina Display. However, there are also rumours that RD screens are a work-in-process at Apple’s vendors.
