New Year’s Eve is a 2011 romantic flick directed by Garry Marshall and produced by Mike Karz and Wayne Allan Rice. Regardless of an all star cast, the movie received poor ratings and negative reviews.
The $56 million budgeted movie celebrates love, hope, second chances, romance, forgiveness and fresh starts. It focuses on several couples and singles in New York intertwine over the course of New Year’s Eve.
The cast includes Halle Berry, Sarah Jessica Parker, Robert De Niro, Zac Effron, Hillary Swank, Ashton Kutcher and many more.
Music of the film is given by John Debney and the movie is edited by Michael Tronick. In addition to this, the latest 2011 romantic movie is distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures and was released on 9th December worldwide.
Despite an amazing cast, the 118 minutes movie received generally unfavourable reviews.
Review Aggregator Metacritic gave a score of 22 out of 100 based on 30 reviews. It has poor 7 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 117 reviews. The site’s general consensus states, “Shallow, sappy, and dull, New Year’s Eve
assembles a star-studded cast for no discernible purpose.”
Detroit News critic, Tom Long, declared, “Written on the level of a bad episode of The Love Boat, this is one of those concoctions that intertwines about 10 storylines and then concludes with a cherry on top.”
Lisa Kennedy of the Denver Post stated, “The only thing that can inspire more cynicism than a holiday’s coerced emotions may be a film that both exploits and celebrates said emotions.
Claudia Winkleman of the BBC One show went on to call it worst film of all time.
IMDB gave the movie a rating of 4.8 out of 10 based on 86 critics.
However, Jackie K. Cooper praised the movie by saying, “No message, no car chases and explosions, no 3D – just relaxing entertainment.”
Owen Gleiberman of the Entertainment Weekly said, "New Year’s Eve is dunderheaded kitsch, but it’s the kind of marzipan movie that can sweetly soak up a holiday evening."
Overall, New Year’s Eve is a good way to kill time with your friends and family.
