Gilani says zero tolerance for redline crossing

The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Yousuf Raza Gilani, has recently said in a statement that Pakistan will not show any tolerance if the country’s red lines are threatened in any way. Having said that, the Prime Minister of Pakistan also made it clear that
the transgression of the country’s border will not be tolerated despite any reason, including on the pretext of the war on terror.

Not only that, Yousuf Raza Gilani also said that if Pakistan feels that its sovereignty is threathened in any other way, strong action will be taken without any wait. The Prime Minister of Pakistan also added that the country will not be stand to be witness
to unilateral actions either within the borders of Pakistan or against the country itself.

The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Yousuf Raza Gilani expressed himself on the matter by giving the following statement: “The situation arising from the November 26 attacks has direct implications for Pakistan’s security, sovereignty and territorial integrity
and, therefore, requires careful consideration by the parliament.”

A string of reactions followed from Pakistan after two of its border posts were attacked by NATO forces in the earlier part of this month. The attack was made in the form of air strikes despite the fact that the Pakistani counter parts pleaded with the NATO
forces to stop the aggression but to no avail. The result of the blatant attack was that 24 of the Pakistani soldiers lost their lives in what the military of Pakistan termed was ‘unprovoked aggression’ on its border.

In response to this, the government of Pakistan immediately closed down its border to NATO supply lines. Not only that, the country also boycotted the Bonn conference on Afghanistan that took place this month in Germany. The United States was also given
the ultimatum to vacate the Shamsi air base.

The bilateral relations between the two nations experienced a steep down turn after the tragic incident in which Pakistani soldiers lost their lives. The negative sentiment in the country grew against the United States and the general public felt increased
hostility against the super power.
