Hollywood actor Tom Cruise has hinted at making a sequel to the 80’s hit ‘Top Gun’. The star claimed that he has been thinking about the project for quite some time now and has already spoken to director Tony Scott about it. He
revealed that the director is in the process of finding a story that could suit the equation.
Top Gun released in May, 1986 and was the story about the students of a Flying School who compete to be the best. The movie starred Tom Cruise, Val Kilmer and Kelly McGillis. The movie was made at a mere budget of $15 million and
grossed a highly impressive $350 million worldwide.
Cruise stated that he is hopeful that the second edition of the movie starts soon as he is totally ready to do it. He claimed that he wants to reunite with Tony Scott and has already asked him about doing a film. The actor admitted
that the director is currently working on a script and the decision could be made soon.
“I hope we can figure this out to do it again. I said to Tony, I want to make another movie with him. He and I haven’t made a film since
Days of Thunder. Tony and I and Jerry, we never thought that we would do it again. Then they started to come to us with these ideas and I thought, wow, that would be what we could do now,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The ‘Mission Impossible’ star hinted that the movie could well be on the same pattern as Top Gun the final verdict could be out soon. He also revealed his excitement on the release of the fourth edition of the Mission Impossible
series and remained hopeful that the film does well.
“We all want to make a film that is in the same kind of tone as the other one and shoot it in the same way as we shot
Top Gun. I don’t know – we’re working on it,” he added.
Mission Impossible – Ghost Protocol is set to release in theatres on December 16.
