Google beats Facebook in general queries, a recent survey shows – Part 1
Friday, December 16th, 2011 6:10:09 by Usman KhalidIt has been in discussions of tech gurus all over the world that Facebook might ultimately take over the monopolistic search engine, Google.com, in searches for the queries like where can we find a good restaurant in the nearest vicinity or where to look
for general household maintenance services like an electrician or a plumber.
It may seem a logical choice for people to opt for a social network of friends and family for such questions instead of combing through lists waterlogged with various options. These kinds of priorities generally evolve from word of mouth more than the expert
opinions on the websites. Moreover, it is a quick way to get to a good solution consulting a friend instead of going through nitty gritties of the web presence.
However, a recent research has found that the reality is far from the presumption made by pro-Facebook gurus. Pew Internet & American Life Project conducted a recent survey that brought the true statistics to the public. According to the research, the search
engine is safe for the time being and Facebook might need to re-tweak its query and advertisement style to catch more customers for such businesses.
According to the survey, around 51 percent of the internet users seek internet for such queries. Out of these 51 percent, a whopping 38% resorted to Google search engine for a good restaurant and whatnot. On the flip side, only 3 percent looked up to The
Social Network for queries like this.
In addition, the Google search engine also provides extensive material to comb through for a thorough opinion. Moreover, Google has been found the primary source of such opinions made on the social networks like Facebook.
