The year 2011 has been make-or-break for many companies. Some maintained their stance throughout this economically mercurial year and some had to discard their beloved products. The technology business did not fall very far from the grid although there were
not many companies who bid farewell to the industry.

Ericsson said goodbye to the mobile communications industry. However, Sony Corporation’s complete takeover of the joint venture will not come until mid-2012. Companies like Research In Motion and HTC performed lacklustre in this year in their respective
flagship products, Blackberry smartphones and HTC Android phones. HP pledged its webOS to open source industry.

However, the some products that were launched this year received a dramatic response. Following are the top shelf products that sustained their companies’ reputation during 2011.

1.       Apple iPhone 4S

After much ado, Apple launched the new edition of its trademark phone, the iPhone 4S. Although the news was not received warmly by the market, as they were expecting a new completely overhauled iPhone, it was a huge success because of the flamboyant assistant
Siri residing in it and the 8-megapixel full HD camera that is a dramatic improvement to the predecessor.

2.       Motorola Droid Razr

Although it’s hardly more than two months since its release in the US, the Droid Razr is enjoying a warm hospitality from Motorola patrons. It is extremely thin, carrying on the Razr pedigree and has a huge 4.7-inch display. Its 8-megapixel camera is capable
of capturing 1080p video and its hardware is ready to embrace Android’s newest version, Ice Cream Sandwich. Speaking of which:

3.       Ice Cream Sandwich

Though only Samsung Galaxy Nexus was the only smartphone to incorporate Google’s newest mobile operating system, it has mesmerized the world with its breath taking features and captivating graphics.

Even though the phone has eclipsed a huge learning curve with a host of new features and gestures, it has seen success anyways.

4.       Apple iPad 2

The first was release in 2010. There was no need of a new one to replace the original, as it was enjoying such a success. However, the new iPad 2 is dramatically thin and has higher graphics along with a faster dual-core A4 processor.

The tablet is still the undisputed king in gaming and computing on the go.
