Three requests for one warm welcome

With the news of President Asif Ali Zardari’s recovery, collation partners and his close aides are preparing to give the PPP’s co-chairman a warm welcome home.

The decision to this affect was taken soon after the doctors permitted Zardari to go home. However, President’s security staff, due to security reasons, is against any such program and has advised against any public gathering.

The date of President’s return to Pakistan is yet to be decided. A PPP leader said the party had a first claim since it boast a fine tracking record of holding public rallies and had held several successful gatherings at critical junctures of the country’s
political history. The party’s leaders also want to make something out of this occasion.

The media reports added that Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain also requested President Zardari to land in Karachi saying that his party would welcome the president in a historic way.

Awami National Party (ANP)’s head, Asfandyar Wali, too joined the bandwagon and appealed to the president to land in Peshawar this time to give a positive message to the people of Khyber Paktoonkhwa.

Asfand said that people called him as president’s friend but he (Zardari) slightly ignored the province despite giving it its identity (new name Khyber Paktoonkhwa).    

Meanwhile the premier of the country also wants to cash in on the event and has desired that Zardari lands in Multan.

“Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani also wants party’s co-chairman to announce something special about Seraiki Province to tackle the political opponent (PML-N) in the region,” reports held.

It is also reported that though no decision has yet been taken so far about the venue of the president’s arrival, the federal ministers would receive the president along with the ministers of the province where he would land. 

Although different political parties and close aides of Zardari have various plans to welcome him, however they may have to keep themselves quite if the concern authorities do not give security clearance.
