Bollywood has given a fitting tribute to one of its legendary actors Dharam Dev Pishorimal Anand, who was more commonly known as Dev Anand. There was a large prayer meeting held in the India’s western
Mumbai city for him in which a large number of Bollywood actors and actresses showed up to pay their homage to the departed legend.
Among some of the great Bollywood stars was Aamir Khan and he shared his thought with the media. Aamir stated Anand’s death is a great loss to the Indian cinematic industry, as he believes Anand was one
of the pioneers of the Indian film industry.
"Dev Saab was a legend of our time. His work will always remain alive among us, the way he entertained us, the way he made every person of the audience happy, everyone will remember him fondly. We will
always have love and respect for him. He was a charismatic personality and it was a sad day for all of us when he passed away," Aamir said.
Meanwhile, Veteran Bollywood actress Simi Garewal was also present at the venue. Garewal had her first shot with Anand and therefore it was too emotional for her.
"I had my first shot with Dev Saab at this Mehboob Studio, in the film Teen Deviya. So it is very emotional for me to come here and attend his memorial service here. I feel very sad about it. Life is very
strange, it is very difficult to understand," she said.
Dev Anand, who was considered by many as the ladies man, not too long ago died in London at the age of 88. Anand, who had a career that spanned more than six decades, suffered a heart attack on Saturday
night at his hotel after he had arrived in UK for his medical treatment.
The award winning actor was no doubt one of the biggest stars of the Bollywood industry. He was honoured by the Government of India with the Padma Bhushan in 2001 and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2002
for his contribution to Indian cinema.
