Pakistan is currently facing a huge controversy in shape of the memo-gate scandal and some of the political analysts of the country feel that the present civilian government of Pakistan Pakistan Peoples Party and its allies are breathing their last.
The scandal was revealed by an American citizen, Mansoor Ijaz earlier this year when for his article for Financial Times, he claimed that Ambassador of Pakistan in the United States, Hussain Haqqani had asked him to deliver a letter to Admiral Mike Mullen.
As per the information leaked by Ijaz, there are some seriously questionable clauses in that memo, which seems like a conspiracy against Pakistan Army and the national security of Pakistan.
Apart from the coalition government, all the political parties of the country are on the same page.
Imran Khan and Nawaz Sharif, who turned up to be massive political rivals in 2011, have also backed the theory that the memo-scandal must be thoroughly investigated.
Khan, who is fast growing as the most popular political leader of the country praised the decision of Nawaz to take this matter to the Supreme Court of Pakistan. Chairman Pakistan Tehreek e Insaaf has full confidence in the supreme court and feels that this
is the first time in the history of Pakistan that the country has free and fair higher courts.
Imran said while addressing the public, “It was a right decision by Nawaz Sharif to move the court. The Supreme Court should reveal real culprits behind the memogate conspiracy… Pakistan is lucky that judiciary is free here enjoying nation’s confidence.”
Cricketer turned politician further added that the history of this government shows that it has never given importance to the supreme court’s judgments. This is the reason why there is corruption at all levels in the country and the common man is paying
the price of the incompetence and lack of sincerity of the government.
“The government is not abiding by court verdicts. Unemployment, poverty and inflation is a price masses are paying for ruling clique’s corruption”, he added.
The next two weeks are extremely important for the country and especially for the government. Let’s keep our fingers crossed and see how this memo-gate scandal unfolds.
