Aisam-ul-Haq ties knot with long-time love, Faha Akmal Makhdum
Pakistan tennis star, Aisam ul Haq Qureshi tied knot with long time love, Faha Akmal Makhdum at an elaborate ceremony held at the Garrison Country Clubon, Lahore on Saturday evening.
The Groom decked out in a trendy golden Sherwani, with a red jewel on the front pocket, and red turban while his bride looked gracefully amazing in the conventional red ‘lehnga’ dress full of golden encrustations.
Aisam arrived the venue in a decorated silver Mercedes with ‘Just Married’ and ‘Congratulations’ written on it. The ceremony began with the solemnisation of Nikkah as the tennis star signed off on the legal documents among family and friends before being
joined by his bride on stage at the Garrison Club.
The 31-year-old Aisam ul Haq is a professional tennis player from Pakistan. His mother Nausheen Ihtisham is a former 10-time national Tennis champion and maternal grandfather Adil Mansoor Tipu, was the All-India champion before Pakistan split from India
in 1947.
He is currently Pakistan’s top Tennis player. He is the only Pakistani tennis player to reach the final of a Grand Slam, which he did in 2010 competing in both mixed doubles (partnering with Kv?ta Peschke) and men’s doubles (partnering with India’s Rohan
Bopanna) at the US Open tennis tournament.
Faha Akmal is a British-based Pakistani who is presently working with Pakistan High Commission in UK. She had recently acquired a masters degree in psychotherapy from the University of Greenwich, UK.
Her father, Dr Muhammad Akmal Makhdum is the son of renowned educationist of Pakistan, professor Muhammad Ajmal, former secretary education, principal of Government College Lahore and vice chancellor Punjab University.
Various personalities from all walks were present at the occasion. Aisam’s Indian tennis partner Rohan Bopana as well as their American tennis coach were also among a large number of guests who attended the marriage ceremony.
Both Qureshi and Faha had got engaged in July earlier this year. The Walima ceremony will be held tomorrow at Model Town Sport Club, Lahore.
