Education is the base of every civilised society and it plays a central role in the progress of that particular society. A good education comes through a good education system because without having a streamlined education system, to deliver a quality education
is not possible.
Education system in Pakistan is not that well because there are several factors which need to be changed on immediate basis. Among the various things that are affecting the education system in the country are the bad governance, corruption, old courses and
the difference between the study courses of public and private institutes.
In most of the public institutes in Pakistan, the study courses of various programmes are out dated but are still being taught without even thinking that it is not going to work anymore. There are some courses which are even more than 20 years old and little
or no addition has been made to improve these courses yet.
The Higher Education Commission should work on this most important aspect and should set a team of highly experienced experts of different subjects to revise the study courses on the basis of the latest developments in those particular subjects or fields.
The courses in these public institutes need to be revised with regular intervals to keep students up-to-date with the latest information and skills in their areas of specialization.
Corruption is another issue which is a stumbling block in the correction and improvement of the education system. Appointments of people on important designations are being made not on the basis of merit but on the basis of bribery and contacts on a higher
level.
If this culture proceeds in the similar manner, then the deserving people will never get a chance to put the poor education system on the right track.
Another important factor in the poor education system is the difference of study courses in the public and private institutes. Private institutes always follow the courses which are being taught in the institutes of advanced nations of the world whereas,
in public institutes, old fashioned or out dated courses produce average students who remain struggling to get good positions in different sectors in Pakistan.
Drastic changes are required to put the education system of Pakistan on the right track of success and prosperity and the concerned authorities should take rapid steps in this regard.
