Pakistan’s model-cum-actress Veena Malik sure knows how to make it into the news. She either ends up making headlines due to her relationship with banned Pakistani fast bowler Muhammad Asif, or becomes the talk of the town after exhibiting vulgarity in an
Indian reality show. Love her or hate her, the people of Pakistan simply love to talk about her and love to come across a new discovery relating to Malik and her latest stunt to attract attention.
The 32-year-old stunner was recently reported missing by a private Pakistani channel, who went on to blow the news out of proportion by saying that the actress may have fallen in the hands of Muslim extremists, who were allegedly issuing threats to her because
of her immoral actions.
According to Malik, the threats had followed the raunchy photo-shoot that she had done for the popular men’s magazine, FHM (For Him Magazine), where she was seen baring it all. While Malik argued that her photos had been morphed by the magazine and that
she had not done anything degrading, the people of Pakistan believed otherwise.
Her photo-shoot became one of the biggest thing in Pakistan, sharing space with the Memo-gate controversy that involved the government of Pakistan, Pakistan’s Army and Inter Services Intelligence (ISI). The issue of Malik’s indecency was being given the
same amount of attention as an issue pertaining to Pakistani’s sovereignty.
Malik’s family admitted that they were ashamed at the actions of the model-cum-actress and disowned her. The model-turned-actress tried to defend her actions after watching the Pakistani nation and her own family react so strongly to the whole issue, saying
she had not stepped over the boundaries of decency completely. While she did manage to gain sympathies from the international media, the Pakistani media was showing her absolutely no mercy.
Malik’s visa was also due to expire on December 24, 2011, which meant that she would be returning to Pakistan to face the wrath of the people, something that she was clearly not ready to do right now. Therefore, many people believe that she may have done
this stunt to earn some sympathies, a gimmick that was bound to fail.
As it turned out, Malik had not been missing after all, but had in fact locked herself in Mumbai Hotel due to a recent spat with the Indian actor, Ashmit Patel.
