Louvre to use Nintendo 3DS from next year

As a result, the museum will gradually replace their electronic guidebooks for the Japanese console. A total of five thousand units will be deployed in action at first, with further orders to be given after the reaction to the technological advancement.
The museum valued the 3D functionality and double screen feature of Nintendo 3DS while making the decision. With the 3DS in place, visitors will have a new way to discover the works that are housed inside the facility.
The console will give another view of Louvre to the visitors, a 3D visit of the museum with support in eight different languages ??without the need for glasses to enjoy the three-dimensional effect.
One of the museum grounds were renovated to adapt to the functionalities of the console so that youngster who are accompanying their parents on tour are adjusted.
To avoid theft of the consoles, the version of the Nintendo 3DS ordered by Louver will not allow video games to be played on them. Visitors can loan the console for six Euros and will have to deposit their identity card for security purposes.
The decision is part of revised museum policy that is aimed at taking advantage of technologies to disseminate their collection. The museum has planned to invest around one million Euros to improve mobile applications in phones and tablets.
Applications provided by the museum have been downloaded three million times since their release. They also plan to use augmented reality figures in their future plans.
