Taliban are not our enemy – Joe Biden

As a result of the terror attack on the world trade center in 2001, America decided to attack Afghanistan and started a war against terror.
Taliban, led by Mulla Mohammad Umar were ruling Afghanistan at that time and they were thrown out of Kabul by the US forces. At that moment of time, most of the political and military analysts around the world predicted that the US forces will sweep the
whole of Afghanistan within a short span of time, may be six months or a year.
However, the US forces, along with the help of NATO and a number of allies, have miserably failed to do so and even after a decade of warfare; more than 70 percent of Afghanistan is under the control of Taliban.
Majority of the experts in the world have a consensus that America have lost its cause in South Asia and now that it has announced to leave Afghanistan, it is just trying to find a scape-goat in the process.
It is quite evident that Taliban will form the government once again in Afghanistan as they remain the most popular political force in the country. This is the reason that the US has shown inclination towards dialogue with the Taliban recently, although
it seems quite ironic after fighting with them for years.
American Vice-President, Joe Bidden has given a statement recently that the real enemy of the US is Al-Qaida and not Taliban. He further explained that even the President, Barrack Obama has said it many times that US is fighting against Al-Qaida.
Biden said, “That’s critical. There is not a single statement that the president has ever made in any of our policy assertions that the Taliban is our enemy because it threatens U.S. interests.”
This statement is the height of irony as America has made Taliban a symbol of extremism all around the world and after a brutal killing of thousands and thousands of people in Afghanistan and dismantling its government back in 2001, it comes up and says
that Taliban are not their enemy. Awesome!
On the other side of the coin, a Taliban commander has made it clear that until or unless America and its allies evacuate Afghanistan, Taliban are not going to have any dialogue with them.
Without showing his identity, the commander said, “Our position on talks remains the same. All occupying forces have to leave Afghanistan. Then we can talk.”
