Firefox version 9 up for grabs as Mozilla releases the update on Thursday, December 23 – Part 1
Thursday, December 22nd, 2011 12:47:48 by Usman KhalidMozilla released its newest version of the flagship web browser, Firefox, for Windows, Mac and Android on Tuesday. The new version is an incremental upgrade, 9, to the older version, 8.
Along the lines of a new graphical interface, that is all silver-like and quite attractive, the back-end programming of the new browser is also made more efficient. Moreover, the components and tabs have been re-arranged for easy use on every operating system.
The Javascript functionality has been revamped for better performance. These code lines have been reprogrammed to work faster with websites that heavily depend on javascript. Moreover, the new browser is also favourable for Adobe Flash that mainly depends
upon the aforementioned script for consistent streaming. Hopefully, the Flash player crash will not be a problem anymore on this new browser.
Firefox 9 has also been made compatible with online games and 3D (polygonal) graphics. Although the old versions also worked with these applications, there were two drawbacks to them. For one, the plug-ins were supposed to be loaded separately and that would
invite malicious software sometimes to the systems as certain links on certain websites do not actually link to the Adobe’s Flash Player plug-in. These plug-ins are pre-installed to the browser and made completely compatible the source code, so the user will
not find any lag while playing a game online.
The Kraken test and Google’s infamous V8 showed that the browser worked three-times more efficient that the predecessors.
Other updates that have been made are more directed at Apple’s Mac OS X Lion and Google’s tablet version of Android operating system.
The Mac version has been tweaked especially for the latest instalment in OS X series, the Lion. More features are nestled inside this web browser when it comes to the Mac OS. However, very discriminatingly, the browser is more likely to run full-featured
on the OS X Lion. The older version like Snow Leopard can also avail Firefox 9 but many of features will not be running.
