Apple sales tumble in Europe during 2011, mainly because of the European crisis
Friday, December 23rd, 2011 4:40:48 by Usman KhalidApple, Inc.’s sales figures crumbled in Europe during 2011, majorly because of the aching European economy. During one year’s time, the sales have taken a big fall not just in sales but the competition as well.
Apple’s archenemy Android has been a success in the recent months on the contrary. The new Samsung Galaxy SII has received a great response in the continental market bypassing the expected sales figures.
The main reason for the falling iPhone sales might be the high price of the phone as compared to Android smartphones. Moreover, free applications are a great selling point which has kept in Google’s mobile operating system in the race of mobile communications
and computing.
The iPhone sales depreciated from 9 to 5 percent in different regions of Europe. Despite the release of iPhone 4S with a sassy virtual assistant, the phone could not make happy sales. In France, the iPhone sales decreased from 29 to 20 percent. In Germany
the fall was from 27 to 22%, while odds from Spain and Italy did not fall far from the grid.
On the other hand, Android had a big smile looking at this report. The Google-powered phone sales increased from 46 to 61 percent sales in the same calendar year third quarter of 2011 when compared to the same period in 2010.
However, Apple still remains the sweet heart of Americans and Asians. The 4S was one of biggest successes in the recent times. During the same period in 2010, the iPhone sported a market share of 25 percent in the US while the same quarter in 2011 showed
a promising result of 36 percent.
Moreover, in the United Kingdom, the sales increased from 21 percent to 31 percent around the calendar.
Therefore, the notion of picking iPhone out of the race is just absurd and amateur. The phone still remains the king of mobile technology and temporary obstacles like the European crisis might hinder their success in the short term but in innovators in mobile
computing will still remain in the driving seat.
