Corruption running rampant in the Pakistani society

A majority of Pakistanis are always complaining to God about being forced to live in a country where the president is accused of being involved in various forms of crimes, the most prominent of which is corruption. Everything that goes wrong in this country
is blamed on the President and his team. People never get tired of complaining about the outrageous rule of President Asif Ali Zardari, nor are they ever able to shake off the feeling of injustice at the hands of God.
Little do these people realise that the ruler of a country is nothing more and nothing less than a reflection of the people. Regardless of their choice to live in denial, they cannot change the fact that they are in no way any better than the person they
all have come to hate so much.
While the Pakistanis go around crying that their president is a corrupt man, it is amazing how they manage to overlook the corruption that they are involved in on daily basis. Everybody is looking to earn money by hook or by crook without having any concern
about how many deserving people he has to step on to attain his goal.
Corruption has become part of everything we do and everywhere we go, be it a school, a hospital, a restaurant, an office, a factory, a bank or any other place. People are not willing to take the long and hard walk to success and accomplishment of a goal,
which is why they go for the short-cuts. These short-cuts often are in no way legal and only serve to plague the society with injustice and immorality. People are becoming deaf to the voice of their conscience and letting their desires lead the way.
Every time the plague of corruption is pointed out to the people, they pretend to be innocent and put the entire blame on a certain type or class of people. The rickshaw drivers, shop-keepers, ‘patwaris’, etc. is where the entire blame of corrupt practices
is dumped. Little does anyone realise that they themselves are involved in corrupt practices and also promote it. These practices are so many that it might take an entire day to list them as almost every third activity that we do has a small of corruption
in it.
It is high time that we realise the people of Pakistan realise their mistakes and start working on correcting them. It is only after ridding themselves of corruption that they can start pointing fingers at others, even their president whom they believe to
be one of the most corrupt human being in the world.
