Hacking has been riding the nerve of computer users since the advent of personal computing. A number of attacks have been launched on specific targets and on masses as well.
This year the US government admitted that last year’s Stuxnet attack was US backed and the government will do everything to make is more miserable. The Iran was targeted in the attack in order to sabotage the nuclear establishment in the country. However,
the attack could only bring little success at best.
However, it is now confirmed that an attack of this magnitude is possible and could bring cyber anarchy in the country.
Recently Texas water supply unit was targeted by a group of hackers in order to spur a state-level chaos. Although the problem was eradicated, it made sure that the message was delivered to the masses that Die Hard 4.0 scenario is possible at any time in
the future.
4. Democracy under the hand of Military
President Eisenhower, in his 1961 address, warned that the military-industrial complex could "endanger our liberties or democratic processes.” A slew of documents released by WikiLeaks highlight the dangers of the surveillance-industrial complex as well.
What WikiLeaks has dubbed the “Spy Files”is a collection of marketing and technical documents, including previously unreleased presentations from companies that showed up at government-only conferences like ISS World Europe, billed as a gathering in 2008 for
"telecom operators, law enforcement," and employees of spy agencies. Amesys, a unit of French technology firm Bull SA, whose hardware was used by Libyan secret police, boasts in a leaked document how it can aid governments in moving from eavesdropping on one
person to "full country traffic monitoring," including automatic translation and mapping of real-world social networks based on who’s talking to who.
