Peoples patience over consistent gas loadshedding seems over and the statement given by Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Dr. Asim Hussain has proved to be the last straw on the back of the camel as people of
the country has finally opted to come out on streets against the sheer mal-governance of the present ruling alliance.
Earlier, in the National Assembly session, on Wednesday, Dr. Asim had said, which meant that people should buy meals from restaurants at exorbitant rates and bear extreme cold without gas supply to their houses.
People belonging to different walks of life condemned the statement of the federal minister. They said that the minister is warning them to get ready for facing further gas crisis in January. They questioned him why he is holding the office after admitting
his failure in resolving the gas crisis.
“We will control the gas crisis in 2012 and people will get full gas pressure for domestic use in December 2012,” Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Dr. Asim Hussain made a promise with the public in a talk show. He said that all protest demonstrations
by public and opposition parties against non-availability of gas would go in vain because they could not do anything for the public to provide gas as there is no gas in the country.
Dr. Asim Hussain had made a similar statement in December 2010 for overcoming the gas crisis in the country. According to Rawalpindi-Islamabad managements, including police and special branch, the residents of twin cities have staged more than 40 protest demonstrations
in different localities in the first 20 days of December 2011 in which more than 56 persons, including men, women and children, sustained injuries and more than 30 private and public vehicles were damaged. Some police officials also sustained serious injuries
during protest demonstrations in December and shifted to different hospitals.
All main roads, including Benazir Bhutto Road, IJP Road, Airport Road, Islamabad Expressway, Jhelum Road, Peshawar Road and Murree Road near Bhara Kahu, remained closed for four to six hours on a daily basis during protest demonstrations against gas crisis.
Sources said that sometimes people staged two to three protest demonstrations in a day.
