Pakistan National team coach, Zavisa Milosavljevic, is currently scouting the country’s top tier competition for talent and has lofty aims to take the Green Shirts to new heights.
Although Pakistan weren’t able to make it to the semi-finals of the SAFF Cup, they showed much improvement under the regime of the Serbian and that was truly reflected in the solidarity at the back.
Jaffar Khan, who put in some sensational performances, was on the end of some eloquent praise by the tactician, who said that the shot-stopper was amongst the finest in the region despite his age.
“Jaffar played extremely well during the SAFF Cup and is the best goalkeeper of the country.”
The coach also revealed that he was currently on a scouting mission and wanted to assemble the best U-22 players from the country for participation in the 2013 AFC Under-22 Championship qualifiers.
“I am picking players both seniors and juniors and am optimistic that tough units will be formed for the coming international assignments.”
“Although I have picked some under-22 players from the Premier League, there are certain players playing for certain academies who are good enough to be short-listed.”
“I will also pick the best players, both seniors and juniors, during the National Challenge Cup to be held in Karachi in February next year and will also try to hold open trials in different regions of the country to hunt those players who are not playing
in the Premier League or any other domestic event.”
While his immediate priority will be assembling a strong squad for the age-limited Asian tournament, Zavisa also revealed that the Senior National team was also on the back of his mind and he was looking at several ways to improve their standards.
“I will try to build such a strong senior team which will qualify for the main round of the AFC Challenge Cup.”
Lastly he lamented the standards of the playing surfaces in the country, saying that in order to reach the level of other South Asian teams they must improve the fields to nurture talent.
“I am not satisfied with the ground conditions here and I will not be able to produce good results with such pitches. For perfect preparation, you need a perfect pitch,” Zavisa Milosavljevic was quoted as saying.
The Serbian trainer has already proved that he is up to the tough task of reviving Pakistani football and with an unending stream of talent, the National team can only rise up the rankings.
