Bodyguard grabs the 1^st position in the Top 10 Bollywood movies of year 2011

Salman Khan’s film ‘Bodyguard’, which is an Indian romantic action film, directed by Siddique and produced by Atul Agnihotri, has topped the Top 10 list of the best Bollywood movies of year 2011.

Bodyguard, which was released on August 31, 2011 across 2,250 screens in 70 Indian cities with 482 prints across the overseas territory, features Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor in the lead roles. The movie
grossed an approximate amount of Rs 22 crore on the first day of its release, which is the highest opening day collection by any film as of yet. Later on the film went on to set another box office record, this time for becoming the highest opening week grossing
Bollywood film, as it collected an amount of Rs 102. 86 crore.

The movie collected an approximate amount of Rs 229 crore worldwide as a result to which it has become the highest-grossing Bollywood movie of 2011 and the second highest-grossing film in the history of
Indian cinema.

The film sees Salman Khan playing the role of a bodyguard (Lovely Singh), who is very devoted to his duty and never compromises on his set principals. Kareena Kapoor on the other hand is shown as a rich
man’s daughter (Divya), who doesn’t like someone watching her all the time.

In order to avoid a bodyguard Divya, from a private number, starts flirting with Singh over the phone but expectedly she falls in love with him. Lovely also gets attracted towards the unknown caller with
the passage of time.

He asks Divya many a times to reveal herself but she doesn’t do it, as she was afraid of the consequences. However, later on Divya’s father gets to know about the story and he sends his men to kill Lovely.

Divya confronts his father to tell him that she is not running away with Lovely rather she says Lovely’s love is someone and is waiting for him on the railway station. To get away with the created story,
Divya sends her close friend Maya to meet Lovely and tell him the whole story but Maya instead of telling Lovely the truth admits that she is Divya.

Though everything gets cleared as Divya meets Lovely after a few years, it is the real twist in the story.
