After death of North Korean leader Kim Jong-il, Japanese went to meet Chinese counterparts
Sunday, December 25th, 2011 6:36:19 by Umair HassanSome say, it was an accurate time for Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda, who went to meet Chinese top executives in order to deal with North Korean’s consistent hostility towards them.
And for some it was also a right time for Japanese government to meet with the Chinese government to promote stability in their own country after the death of long-time leader Kim Jong il, who never done anything lessening the tension between two nations.
Last week, North Korean supreme commander and father figure of their nation Kim Jong-il died at the age of 69 after suffering a heart attack while his youngest son Kim Jong-un is likely to become the new commander in chief.
Japanese PM Noda told reporters after mentioning Kim’s death with some little uncertainty, Noda said, “We are currently facing a new situation in East Asia.”
Noda further added referring to China likely contribution towards lessening the tension. He said, “On this issue, it is very timely to exchange views with the host of the six-party talks and the country with the most influence on North Korea. Safeguarding
the peace and stability of the Korean peninsula is in the common interest of our two countries.”
This particular meeting where Japan and China have listed some sensitive topics to be discussed in near future, is certainly carry huge weigh in the direction of a more compassionate try to make progress on.
