Why isn’t there a holiday on the 27th of December

Sitting around waiting for the government to decide whether it would be a public holiday in Islamabad on the 27th of December, resulted in me and some of my co workers pulling our hair out.
We kept wondering what the holdup was, considering how we have been awarded holidays for lesser events in the country.
However, after waiting till about nine in the night, it was finally revealed that it would only be a holiday in some of the provinces in the country. This in itself is kind of shocking and rather weird, considering the fact that this is supposed to be a
nation built on unity.
If we can’t even give holidays on a nationwide bases, how are we supposed to do anything as a nation.
It seems rather inexplicable, but perhaps the reason for me being so disappointed is the fact that myself, along with a number of other people all across the city, were hoping for it to be a holiday.
We were already denied our holiday on the 25th of December, which turned out to be a Sunday, so why can’t we have the holiday that we deserve, despite it not being the holiday that we need.
It’s a rather bizarre time to be living in Islamabad, when you can’t even be sure whether you have work the next day or not.
However, given the way things are shaping up, we could end up having a holiday randomly when it’s a little too sunny outside, but we wouldn’t get it on a day like the 27th of December, when one of the most drastic events to ever take place in
the country occurred.
