Black Sabbath ruled 1970’s Metal era

However, there is no denial to the fact that Deep Purple, AC/DC, Scorpions and Judas Priest
were also rocking charts across the globe as well.
Here, we will list some of the top Metal albums of the 1970’s, which were acclaimed worldwide by the critics and fans.
Scorpions – Love Drive
Scorpions, a German hard rock band, released their sixth studio album ‘Love Drive’ in 1979. Vocalist Klaus Meine had the aggression and emotion and lead guitarists Mathias Jabs made his debut mark with a string of his melodic solos and beautiful riffs that
complimented Rudolph Schenker’s song-writing perfectly.
Judas Priest – Sad wings of Destiny
Judas Priest’s second studio album ‘Sad Wings of Destiny’ was launched in 1976. The album fulfilled many die hard Metal fans’ thirst of head banging while it also laid foundation for the new wave of British Metal. The album contained classic tracks like
‘Victim of Changes’ and ‘The Ripper’ and the twin-guitar lead attack helped the British band reach new heights.
Motorhead – Overkill
Motorhead is one of the primary influences of any Metal listener across the globe. In 1979, the English band released their second studio album ‘Overkill’, which featured songs like ‘No Class’, ‘Stay Clean’, Damage Case’ and ‘Tear ya Down’.
AC/DC – Highway to Hell
‘Highway to Hell’ was AC/DC’s fifth studio album that was released in 1979. It featured Bon Scott for the last time in the Band’s line-up, as he died shortly after the release of the album. The album received high appreciation from the critics and gave a
boost to their fan following.
Deep Purple – Machine Head
Deep Purple fifth studio album ‘Machine Head’ stands as one of the best Hard Rock albums of all time. Lead guitarist Ritchie Blackmore and Keyboardist John Lord took the English band to a new level of musical experience, playing each other’s compositions
on classic tunes like ‘Highway Star’, ‘Space Truckin’ and ‘Never Before’.
Black Sabbath – Paranoid
Just four months after the release of their debut album, Black Sabbath released another classic Hard Rock album ‘Paranoid’ in 1970. The album contained tracks like ‘Iron Man’, ‘War Pigs’ and the impressive title track ‘Paranoid’. The album has the roaring
ugliness with Ozzy Osbourne crying loud while Tony Iommi’s amazing solos and riffs makes the sound heavier.
Black Sabbath – Black Sabbath
Black Sabbath’s self-titled debut disc dealt with the ugliness and chaos of life in post-war Britain. Songs like ‘My name is Lucifier’, ‘N.I.B’, ‘The Wizard’ and the title song are unbelievably heavy. The album is also credited to be the first in the development
of Heavy Metal genre.
