Shafqat Amanat Ali wants to be remembered as an all-round singer

Shafqat Amanat Ali is a classically-trained singer, but he does not want to restrict himself to the classical music only.

On the eve of his live performance for first time at a public event in Mumbai, the Pakistan-based singer expressed his ambition to register his name in the pages of the history as a good all-rounder – someone with an ability to do well in every genre of
music.

After starting off his career with hits like Aankhon Kay Sagar and Khamaj with the band Fuzon, Shafqat took a solo flight and moved to Indian music industry, where he earned massive fame as the soulful vocalist behind hits like Bin Tere (I Hate Luv Storys),
Tere Naina (My Name Is Khan), Mitwa (Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna).

When asked that what excites him most as a singer – performing live or playback singing, Shafqat said, “Both are different experiences. Playback singing gives software for live performances. Both are very important but live singing is a whole different high.
Everything is happening in real time and the interaction with the audience adds a whole new dimension to the performance.”  

He also pointed out a lot of similarities between the music of Pakistan and India, and explained that since the people from both sides of the border have a same taste of the music, there is no big difference between the audience he encounter with either
in India or Pakistan.

He added, “No difference. However, I must add that Indian audiences receive us with a slightly different perspective and show a lot more warmth and affection as we are not from here, and that gives my performance a different energy.”

Shafqat has given a lot of super hit songs so far, and when asked that why did he quit his band and started singing alone, he responded that he enjoys working on his own, as it allows him to express his creativity.

Talking about his friends in the Indian music industry, the big man shared, “All the people I regularly work with here are friends first and then co-workers… be it Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy or Salim-Suleiman, Sajid-Wajid, Vishal-Shekhar or Pritam.”
