Lahore: (Wednesday, December 28, 2011) Chief Minister Punjab, Shahbaz Sharif said today that his government had the mission to serve the masses and their track record was a clear depiction of the fact that they always utilized
national resources for the uplift of the masses.
Talking to assembly members and PML-N office-bearers of various districts here, the chief minister said that a comprehensive programme was being implemented for raising the living standard and provision of basic amenities to the
common man as well as bringing the deprived segments of the society into the mainstream of development.
He said that every step of the government aimed at national progress and prosperity, and that Pakistan would be steered out of the crises under the leadership of PML-N president Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif. He said the party leadership would put the country
on the road to progress and development, in accordance with the vision of Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal.
The CM said that the Punjab government had adopted an effective strategy for the elimination of poverty, ignorance and unemployment from the province. He said that revolutionary measures taken for the development of education, health, agriculture, livestock
and other sectors had yielded positive results. He said that Aashiyana housing project for the workers, labourers and low-income people had been started for the first time in the 64-year history of the country. Under the scheme, he said, not only shelter had
been provided to the common people and the poor but basic amenities on the pattern of residential societies of the rich had also been made available.
He said that revolutionary steps had also been taken for the uplift of education sector and promotion of literacy. He said that IT labs had been set up at more than 4,000 schools of the province, to help millions of students to acquire modern education and
knowledge. He said that brilliant and deserving students from across the country were being given scholarships through the Punjab Educational Endowment Fund.
The establishment of Daanish schools equipped with modern academic facilities in the far-flung and backward areas was a proof that every citizen had equal right over national resources. He said that not only academic but boarding and lodging facilities were
also available free of cost to the children of the poor families in these seats of learning.
He said that the programme of distribution of 100,000 laptops among talented boy and girl students with a cost of two billion rupees would soon start. He said that measures had also been taken for the provision of employment opportunities to the youth and the
skilled youth were being given interest-free loans to help them set up their own business.
