Fresh romance between Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will narrow chances for the restoration of Muthida Majlas Amal (MMA) as Jamiat Ulema Islam-Fazlur Rehman (JUI-F) does not want any political relation
with the PTI.
In the fresh move, JI is nowadays moving closer to Imran Khan’s PTI and farther from other religious parties. This is why JI’s new adventure has shattered the hopes of MMA’s revival, media reports quoting sources stated.
JUI-F Chief, Maulana Fazlur Rehman is a strong critic of Imran Khan and his party. In result of the fresh romance and increasing overtures between JI and of PTI is point of concern for him.
So at present, growing relations between PTI and Jamaat-e-Islami are seen as the main hurdle in the restoration of the MMA alliance. Both the parties share opposition to the incumbent government, the United States, the PML-N
and the war on terror.
Secretary General JUI-F, Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haidri blames the JI for all the mess, saying the religious parties’ alliance could not be materialized until the Jamaaat leaves its hard-line stance. “Munawar Hassan and his party
are responsible for non-revival of the MMA, he held.
He further stated that the JI had succeeded in the 2002 general elections due to the JUI-F support. In his view, the ball was in the JI’s court to decide about its political future.
He added that JI was very critical of former president Pervez Musharraf but was making an alliance with the PTI, which was accepting the remnants of the military dictator.
A meeting of the two parties was held few days ago at Qazi Hussain’s residence to devise a joint strategy on next elections, but they failed to reach any conclusion.
