Mailsi: (Wednesday, December 28, 2011) although it hasn’t touched its peak as yet, but PTI’s tsunami has devastated its political rivals to the core and has left them bereft of valuable icons – Kanwar Muhammad Javed Iqbal, an ally
of Mehmood Hayat Khan (Totchi Khan) of PPP, being one of them.
With Mr. Iqbal choosing to join PTI, an experienced lecturer at International Islamic University and a leading researcher and environment scientist at one of the prominent research based institution – Sustainable Development Policy
Institute Islamabad, the party will cherish inclusion of another academician who is a strong contender for the party’s research and development committee.
The dwellers of Mailsi NA 170 have termed Mr. Iqbal’s departure to PTI a timely decision, and said that it will slash Mehmood Hayat Khan’s political strength in the area to half. Notwithstanding the shock to lose Kanwar Javed at
the hands of the emerging political party, there are news that Hayat Khan may also contemplate on following the suit.
Being associated with research work on poverty, environment, health and other number of social issues for a decade or so, Mr. Iqbal is acknowledged as a fine social scientist. For being strongly connected with the dwellers of his
constituency and for already having elaborated a brief and comprehensive development road map for South Punjab, he is widely respected and enjoys significant support of the area.

Khan’s commitment with people of land of the pure that had compelled him to take the decision in his favour.
Commenting on his plan and road map for the alleviation of long neglected people of South Punjab, Mr, Iqbal said he was going to share it with PTI team and if given the mandate, he will be more than happy to not only implement
his plan in his area, but to replicate the success in other parts of the country as well.
