YouTube organizes video duel

In order to increase visibility of the most views videos on YouTube, the video buffering giants will start a voting competition. Polls will be made on the different categories of videos for the competition.

Users participating in the competition will win points on voting, an action that will have no rewards but will aid other internet users.

The category of Comedy Slam has collected more than 300,000 votes, while the music video category gathered over 77,000 votes in a single day. Other categories that are dedicated to most rare videos and cute videos also received particular attention from
users.

The contest has been called YouTube Slam, and it will be used to promote viral content on the platform. The organization explains that through these space users of the website can discover talented amateur singers, the most adorable and craziest videos on
YouTube.

"You could help uncover the next big thing," said Tomas Izo, the firm’s software engineer.

"Get your daily dose of the most talented, hilarious, adorable or weird videos on YouTube, and you could help uncover the next big thing."

When a surfer enters the Slam competition he is presented with two videos of the selected category. The duel can be started then as the user gives his preference by voting for one.

The Slam contest follows in Google’s latest policy to maintain their leadership position. The organization recently refurbished their video portal interface.

They have also proposed a platform to be used exclusively in schools where site administrators can select the material and content visible pedagogical. Currently, this offer is only valid for US-based schools.
