Lahore: (Friday, December 30, 2011) Annoyed with Punjab bureaucracy’s indifferent attitude towards people’s concerns, Col ® Naveed Saji, an MPA of Pakistan Peoples’ Party Punjab yesterday submitted a privilege motion in the Punjab
Assembly against Arif Hameed, Managing Director Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL).
In the motion, the PPP MPA submitted that, for an important piece of work, he had tried to contact the MD time and again but the personal assistant (PA) of the official had not let him talk to him.
Naveed Sajid further submitted that, when he contacted the MD for the last time, he was plainly told by his personal assistant that the managing director did not want to talk to him (MPA).
Naveed Sajid, a PPP MPA elected from Rahim Yar Khan District also submitted that the attitude of the MD had hurt his as well as the entire House’s privilege, calling for carrying out the motion in the Punjab Assembly for debate.
This is noteworthy that most of the PPP workers are already annoyed with the attitude of bureaucracy as well as the puppet role of the party senior leaders appointed as chairmen or heads of the corporations working under the central government. Last month,
just a week before a meeting held to review the arrangements for the foundation day of the party in Lahore, PPP Jialas had vehemently criticized the failure of its own leadership in addressing the grievances of party workers and for being helpless before bureaucracy.
SNGPL chairman Mian Misbah ur Rehman had also come under criticism from the party loyalists who, in the presence of PPP Punjab president Imtiaz Safdar Warraich, had flayed the puppet role of the members appointed as heads of corporation.
Moreover, after the submission of privilege motion by Col (r) Naveed Sajid, the PPP MPAs in the chamber of the opposition leader, also slammed the MD for showing no concern on the grievances of people. They also demanded stern measures from the PPP leadership
to tame bureaucracy at the earliest.
