The Darkest Hour: Failed to live its hype

The Darkest Hour is a 3D science-fiction film which was released on December 25th, 2011. It is directed by Chris Gorak and produced by Timur Bekmambetov and Tom Jacobson. Emile Hirsch, Olivia Thirlby, Rachael Taylor,
Max Minghella and Joel Kinnaman are featuring in this new flick.

The story incorporates a group of five young people who are caught in middle of the alien invasion in Russia. They fight to survive past these aliens who are in an invisible electric form.

Unlike most alien invasion movies which are based in the United States, The Darkest Hour is based in Moscow, Russia. The filming with 3D cameras began in on July 18th, 2010 and it was temporarily suspended due to Russian
wildfire.

The $30 million budgeted movie received mostly unfavourable and negative reviews from the top critics.

Review aggregator Metacritic gave a score of 16 out of 100 based on 10 critics. Rotten Tomatoes on the other hand reports 15 percent of critics gave positive ratings based on reviews from 20 critics, with an average rating of 2.8
out of 10.

IMDB was kinder to the movie, it gave 5.2 out of 10 based on 1,213 users.

New York Times’ Jeannette Catsoulis declared, “Really, how slovenly is it to use invisible aliens? If you’re going to tease us with nothing but pinwheels of light for three-quarters of the film, you’d better have one heck of a
reveal up your sleeve.”

John DeFore of the Hollywood Reporter said, “An alien invasion flick that evidently expects dramatic shots of a depopulated Red Square to make up for a flatlining screenplay and the absence of even a single compelling character.”

Los Angeles Times’ top critic Mark Olsen gave the movie two out of five and said, “What’s the point of going all the way to Moscow if the shots you come back with end up looking like cheap green-screen process work?”

Joey Leydon of the Variety gave the movie 50 out of 100 points and stated, “The Darkest Hour turns out to be a modestly inventive and involving variation on a standard-issue sci-fi doomsday scenario.”

The Darkest hour is a new kind of alien invasion and you’d like to see it with your friends and families.
