Islamabad: (Thursday, December 29, 2011) Dr. Marilyn Wyatt, wife of U.S. Ambassador Cameron P. Munter, today recognized the outstanding efforts on behalf of Pakistan’s disabled persons of Special Talent Exchange Program (STEP),
“Pakistan Special,” and Youth for Peace.
Speaking at a Cultural Fashion Show of Persons with Disabilities, Dr. Wyatt noted her personal interest in disability rights as the mother, the sister, and the sister-in-law of persons with disabilities.
Dr. Wyatt congratulated Pakistan for ratifying the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities this year. Dr. Wyatt said the Convention is a powerful tool for promoting human rights
and supporting the inclusion of disabled people into Pakistan’s workplaces, communities, and future.
Dr. Wyatt told the Fashion Show audience, “It won’t be easy work. If it were easy, everybody would be involved. But as we see here today, you are not everybody. You do not want to be everybody. You are unique.
You are powerful. You are inspiring.”
