Gas crisis: It is what it is

The situation is becoming parlous; much because of the natural gas shortage has hit the country badly. However, a good and effective management could have only delayed the ongoing natural gas crisis but could not have created it. Similar to that the dams
can only store water but not create themselves.
That is what we are facing in the present scenario. There is not enough gas available to go round. The first question to determine is that whether the present government is responsible in this regard or not. Obviously, the answer will be in yes.
Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources was the first victim of coalition politics while the general cabinet reshuffles in the very next phase. But the incompetence of the incumbent government failed to explain the real situation.
When the crises go beyond the patience, Dr. Asim Hussain took the charge and public do not like his straightforward statements.
The public want him to be lied, like, former Minster for Water and Power Raja Pervez Ashraf continued giving one deadline after the other to overcome the electricity crisis. The might have been scorned him unendingly but actual date will have been too bitter
to swallow, rumored to be sometime in 2018.
Furthermore, the masses did not show pleasures over at the minister’s harsh warning of a month-long closure of CNG stations. Those segments which are really cognizant about the situation also condemned the decision.
Unfortunately, it was not the incumbent government that urged the masses to switch over to CNG-run vehicles from petroleum products. In the previous regime, the dictatorial president, Pervez Musharraf, failed to understand the difference between supply and
demand, permitting a network of gas stations across the country.
However, the incumbent is responsible for not stopping the surplus and took a few decisions that it shouldn’t have.
The real issue is that how could the government handle the issue. Conservative wisdom suggests that the government should bear most the burden on CNG vehicles, ensuring the uninterrupted gas to factories and households.
But the government failed to manage the situation what it is responsible to doing so. Considering the issue of gas management, we should have to reconcile ourselves.
The opposition parties will have true concerns in this regard but they too will not able to handle the situation without taking any distasteful decisions.
