Islamabad: (Saturday, December 31, 2011) the Chairman Interfaith League against Poverty (I-LAP) and a renowned social worker and human rights activists, Mr. Sajid Ishaq, while wishing Pakistani nation a Happy New Year here today,
said the country needs to stick to the resolution of creating Respect, and promoting mutual esteem and peaceful coexistence to ensure a prosperous future for all.
In light of the devastations the country incurred in floods and fight against militancy that displaced thousands of our countrymen the last year, he said, it was need of the hour for us to cast aside all the differences and to
work together to rebuild lives that looked towards us with hope.
Reflecting upon the fact that Pakistan was through innumerable social, political, security and economic hardships, the chairman I-Lap advised the nation to keep the nerves and stand tall before the hardships for nothing was stronger
than this nations’ firm belief on its capabilities to swim against the current. He said, “We should gird ourselves for further uncertainties ahead, but we can also be confident for Pakistan has been a strong nation to weather any storm.”
He was of the view that it was high time we as a nation condemned war and violence and commit to educate people in order to achieve interfaith harmony and solidarity among members of different ethnic groups, cultures and religions.
He said, “We must commit ourselves to promote the culture of dialogue so that understanding and trust may develop among individuals and peoples as these are the conditions of authentic peace.”
Deliberating on the ways to stay united, Mr. Sajid Ishaq said, “We must pardon each other’s errors and prejudices of the past and present, and support one another in the common struggle of attaining peace in our land.” Refereeing
to the areas where war between state and different groups was going on, he said, “We also need to learn that peace without justice is not true peace.”
At the end of his message, he wished a very happy New Year to the entire nation all over again, and said, “I hope that the passing of another year will encourage all of us to reflect on our thoughts and deeds, and welcome the new
year with a greater resolve to do what is right, not only for ourselves but the entire nation. I wish everyone a New Year of hope.”
