A 2011 romantic comedy flick, Friends with Benefits, was released on July 22nd, 2011 worldwide. Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis are featuring in this 109 minutes film.
‘Friends with Benefits’ centres on a New York head-hunter, Jamie (Kunis), who is trying to sign Los Angeles-based Dylan (Timberlake) for her client. Dylan takes the job and they soon become friends but their friendship turns into
a friendship with benefits. However, due to their emotional backgrounds, they try not to fall for each other the way Hollywood romantic comedies dictate.
It is directed by Will Gluck and produced by Jerry Zucker. The movie is distributed by Screen Games and the $35 million budgeted movie grossed a total of $149, 542,245.
The movie received generally positive reviews from critics. Review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes report that 71 percent of 158 critics gave it a positive review, with an average rating of 6.2 out of 10. The site general consensus
states, “Friends with Benefits adds nothing new to its well-worn rom-com formula, but the chemistry between Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis is almost enough to carry the movie by itself.”
IMDB gave it a rating of 6.6 out of 10 based on its 44,918 users while another review aggregator site, Metacritic, gave the movie a score of 63 out of 100, based on reviews by 37 critics.
The Telegraph’s Sukhdev Sandhu felt that Justin Timberlake held his own when working with Mila Kunis. Concluding his review, Sandhu presented
Friends with Benefits a three out of five stars.
Toronto Star’s top film critic, Greg Quill, gave it 2.5 out of 5 and declared, “It’s one of those rare made-in-Hollywood couplings that transcend the ordinary stuff of movies, like plot and sense and credibility.”
Andrew O’Hehir of the Salon.com said, “"Friends With Benefits" is often uproariously and profanely funny, and anchored in high-spirited performances from its central duo, who are well matched as comic foils if oddly lacking in
erotic electricity.”
Richard Roeper gave it a score of four out of five and praised by saying, “The best romantic comedy of the year.”
Summing up, Friends with Benefits, is good movie to pass time with your buddies.
