Wall-E is a 2008 computer-animated film which is directed by Andrew Stanton and produced by Jim Morris. It was released in June 2008 and since then it has grossed $521,311,860. Ben Burtt, Elissa Knight and Jeff Garlin are featuring
their voices in this flick.
The 98 minutes movie is set in a distant but not so real future, where a small waste collecting robot, Wall-E (Burtt), accidently embarks a journey to space. His journey ultimately decides the fate of mankind.
The movie won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and was nominated for Best Original Screenplay, Best Original Score, Best Original Song, Sound Editing and Sound Mixing at the 81st Academy Awards which it lost
to Slumdog Millionaire, The Dark Knight and Milk respectively.
The movie received critical acclaim from critics. Review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes sites that 96 percent of critics gave it positive reviews, based on reviews from 231 critics, with an average rating of 8.5 out of 10. The site’s
general consensus states, “Charming, audacious, and timely, Wall-E’s lighthearted magic and stellar visuals testify once again to Pixar’s ingenuity.”
IMDB gave it a score of 8.5 out of 10 based on its 262,074 users.
Another review aggregator site, Metacritic gave the movie an exceptional score of 94 out of 100, based on reviews by 39 critics.
Peter Travers of the Rolling Stone gave it a score of four out of four and declared, “No movie can be a downer that fills you with pure exhilaration. You leave WALL-E with a feeling of the rarest kind: that you’ve just enjoyed
a close encounter with an enduring classic.”
New York Magazine’s film critic, David Edelstein, praised the movie by saying, “The new Pixar picture Wall-E is one for the ages, a masterpiece to be savored before or after the end of the world — assuming, like the title character,
you’re still around when all the humans have taken off and have access to an old video player.”
Wall-E took Pixar Animations to a new height. It sets you in an adventure beyond the ordinar-E, making it a must buy movie for not only children but for their parents as well.
