Hollywood saw sales loss in 2011, mainly due to expensive entertainment – Part 1

Hollywood saw another drop in the revenues in the recently passed year, although most of the films this year saw promising profits. The overall profits for the year 2011 were 4.7 percent low as compared to 2010.

The main reason attached to the low revenues in the year is the expensive entertainment that takes a huge dough out of the pockets of regular theatregoers. The increasing hoarding in the 3D technology and IMAX entertainment is undoubtedly two of the most
amusing aspects of the contemporary cinema but these are expensive as well.

Most of the cinemagoers have made their peace with going to cinema a few times, thinking that it is the better entertainment, being occasional movie watchers. However, the box office is getting negative response to the fact.

Moreover, not all the movies justify the $19 ticket for 3D experience. Movies like Avatar might have grabbed attention due to the amazing cinematography and James Cameron factor in the direction but not many would agree to pay the same amount of money for
a movie like Sucker Punch that lacks the very aspect of a captivating story in it.

There have been a number of hits this year but note that most of them did not boast 3D and IMAX technology in them, like Rise of Planet of the Apes, Moneyball and Warrior. These movies had one aspect common in them, inexpensive tickets.

2011 was the second year in the running that show a loss and 2011 loss is the worst in the last two decades or even more. The 3D amusement is no doubt an incomparable aspect but the distributors and exhibitors have to take the fact into account that the
whole world is not going through pretty times to pay for $19 for a one time experience.
