There are many Pakistani artists, who are trying to make their careers in the Bollywood industry. Ali Zafar is shooting for ‘London Paris New York’, Meera is playing a lead role in ‘5 Ghante Mein 5 Crore’,
Atif Aslam is playing a judge’s role in a Indo-Pak music show whereas Veena Malik is participating in an upcoming Indian movie ‘Zindagi 50-50’.
There are other names like Adnan Sami and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, who have sung some excellent songs for the Indian nation. However, These all the artists have always been targeted by the Indian media somehow
or the other but now it looks as if things have changed in India because the Indian film-makers reckons that the Pakistani artists make a beeline for the Bollywood industry.
An Indian politician, Bal Thackeray, recently lashed out at Veena Malik and all other Pakistani artists by saying that they are a blot on the Indian culture as a result to which they should be sent back
to their countries. The reason behind his anger was the controversial Pakistani-queen, Veena Malik, as she disappeared for 2 days without informing anyone. Nevertheless, the film-makers in India are unnerved by the statement rather most of them have responded
to the statement.
Film-maker Rahul Dholakia, who may cast Imran Abbas in one of his films, was the first one to respond to Thackeray’s statement.
Dholakia said, "I don’t care about the political parties. If my film needs a Pakistan artiste, then I will sign him."
Film-maker, Mahesh Bhatt, who may cast the Indo-Canadian porn star Sunny Leone in his upcoming film ‘Jism 2’, has also expressed his feelings.
Bhatt said, "In the season of hate targeting a Pakistani entertainer is profitable. It gets you instant attention. However, the situation has drastically changed now. Pakistan is no longer heading our
hate list. The intensity of the hostility that has kept us glued together has ebbed. Today, hating a Pakistani actor is not profitable because it does not grab headlines."
Dinesh Chaturvedi, who is the general secretary of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees, in the meantime also shared his thoughts.
Chaturvedi said, "Many foreigners come to India on a tourist visa and are employed by producers."
