Kodak in trouble

The digital age has not sit well with Kodak as it battles for survival. The New York Stock Exchange warned the company that it can eject the company if they do not close their titles in the next six months, as required by the market.

Kodak received the warning after its shares closed down for 30th consecutive day below the $ 1 mark. Int he recent publication of ‘The Wall Street Journal’ it was stated that the company is readying itself to benefit from the U.S. law that allows
suspension of payments to animate the price of thier stock. Their current market capitalization is valued at $176 million.

Their biggest hope of getting out of the impasse are the substantial returns on their patent portfolio valued at around three billion dollars.

Kodak is currently involved in a lawsuit against Apple and RIM, with the International Trade Commission expected to give their ruling in September 2012.

Kodak has filed law suits claiming one billion dollars to both companies for infringement of their patents. The incorporation of photography on mobile phones and tablets are palatable patents of the imaging giant.

Antonio M. Perez, the Spanish partner of Kodak, has emphasized on more than one occasion the value of the assets of the company.

"We do not manufacture mobile phones, but a lot of camera phones take our technology . We do not care much for the consumer end what the manufacturers know how to do business with us. In fact, it is logical to have Kodak, which manufactured the first digital
camera. "

The company revealed that the money collected from the abuse of imaging technology patents will be invested in other businesses, such as digital printers.

Kodak won a lawsuit against Samsung, who were forced to pay $ 650 million for violation of patents and design copy. In the current consumer electronics, 85% of digital cameras and mobile interactive use Kodak technology.

It has been stated that two of the interested parties in acquiring these patents are Microsoft and Samsung.
