Neil Nitin Mukesh rates Hollywood way better than Bollywood
Thursday, January 5th, 2012 2:29:40 by Rana Nasir GhafoorActor Neil Nitin Mukesh has said that there is no comparison between Hollywood and Bollywood, as the international movies are way better than the Indian film industry.
Mukesh will be seen the latest action-flick ‘Players’ which is a remake of a super hit Hollywood movie, ‘The Italian Job’. He lauded Indian cinema industry for producing excellent work, but described that Hollywood is a lot superior industry when it comes
to technology.
“We constantly talk about Hollywood and Bollywood, but I feel we are nowhere close to them what so ever whether it is in terms of technology or processing or story line or execution or anything,” said Mukesh.
“Today almost for every film critic writes leave your brains behind and enjoy the film…why would one leave their brains behind? The audience wants to see an intelligent film. So make an intelligent film and feed your audience with that. If we keep offering
them certain amount or certain quality of films they will get used to that and expect that only,” he added.
The young artist also expressed concerns over the lack of super hero movies in the Indian cinema. Referring to the character of Superman which was introduced by Hollywood almost 30 years ago, Mukesh described that the Indian filmmakers need to make more
fiction movies like Krrsih.
“So we are way way behind them…that is because there audience have accepted futuristic films… because movies are meant to be made to believe, they are meant to be larger than life. It is not like that our films are bad but we are not catering and guiding
to our audiences,” shared the Mumbai-born actor.
He, however, hoped for a dramatic improvement in the Indian films soon, adding that the local movies will soon start giving a tough time to the international pictures. Meanwhile, he admired the director duo Abbas-Mustan for making a wonderful effort in his
new movie.
He uttered, “The one thing that I admire about Abbas-Mustan is that from Khiladi to
Players they have always progressed with time. Players is slightly advanced in its time. Its a very well shot film. Their thinking is not old-school, they are very stylish.”
