Holy cows obliged to reveal assets

In an outstanding and commendable move, the federal cabinet took a decision, making the public servants bound to reveal their assets, which was hitherto limited to politicians only. It was a clear anomaly in the law, as majority of the elite bureaucratic
lots have made assets worth of billions beyond their capabilities.

All those who are taking salaries from the national exchequer will now be required to declare their assets every year including judiciary and military personnel also. The discrimination against a particular section (politicians) has been ended after the
fresh move by the cabinet.

At the same time the perception that certain sections of the society were being cared for as holy cows also faded away.

Corruption and other social evils spread like cancer in a society where powerful and influential people break the law or bend the rules for self interests. The places where discretional authority can be used to get monetary benefits are more vulnerable examples
of above mentioned evils.

Politician, the representatives of masses, have been subjugated to an invasive assessment of their assets that was quite an obvious. However, still there are many places where one can use discretionary powers.

However, cronies in a large state-controlled section can be lodged or sold the jobs. Foreign companies, which gain millions dollars, use bribery to get contracts. But no one speaks about it.

On the other side, the differences between political groups ensure that corruption and embezzlement among politicians should be revealed. But according to the media reports, there is hardly any section left that has not been affected by the corruption.

In order to prevent themselves from difficulties, a few sections have indeed institutionalized the social evil, as they received preferential benefits under the legal covers.

Politicians commonly charged of misusing their powers to acquire illegal money, the unprincipled among the judiciary and security forces also are not far behind.

Media many times reported about the bribes in the contracts made by the military forces. Similar examples are common among the judicial official particularly at the lower level.

A law that makes all section of the society, particularly the civil servants, obligor to declare their assets is right step that should be taken a long before ago.
