Former Ambassador to the U.S. Hussain Haqqani has said that he would not become approver in memogate scandal, saying that he was not the real target but President Asif Ali Zardari.
While speaking to a private TV channel he said that the memo was the brainchild of Mansoor Ijaz. “I neither wrote any memo nor send it. I have nothing to do with this memo. It would have been better if my point of view would have been heard, it would be
better”, he added.
He said that he has not any life threat but has some fears, which he would face bravely. He said that the gambling was played that Haqqani would come to Pakistan or not. A failed politician from Rawalpindi is busy in his character assassination.
The former envoy asserted that he had resigned at his own will as a huge allegation was tagged with his name and it was not appropriate to work as ambassador with charges .He said that memogate is in the commission so he could not reveal details of the case
at this juncture.
“I love my country. My affiliations were with PPP and I would continue as a patriot and loyal to the party. “Those elements which consider themselves the contractors of Islam are putting charges on me to change my loyalty”, Haqqani added.
Hussain Haqqani’s lawyer, Zahid Hussain Bukhari, has said that it was the responsibility of Mansoor Ijaz to prove the authenticity of memogate scandal, if he does not come to Pakistan, the case would ultimately be abolished.
While taking to the journalists he said that he would plead the court to prevent the proceedings of the memogate case. He said that an application would be submitted in the Supreme Court against formation of inquiry commission to probe the issue.
He said that Mansoor Ijaz is trying to flee from the case by presenting complicated conditions for coming to Pakistan. He said that Hussain Haqqani would be present before the commission at any cost. “We would request the commission to provide him security”,
Bukhari added.
