Pakistan Muslim League (N) leader, Nawaz Sharif, has urged the government and army leaders to call off the military operation in Balochistan.

Sharif believes that killing of innocent people is dividing the nation into pieces, and fears that Pakistan might have to do without with their largest province if the operation continues. The PML (n) leader was speaking in a press
conference with National Party Chairman, Talal Bugti, in Quetta.

The 62-year-old blasted former President, General Pervez Musharraf, for disintegrating the province with the rest of the nation, and admitted that the present government should hold peace talks in Balochistan.

While talking to the media, Sharif said, “Peace cannot be secured in Balochistan until the longstanding issues facing the province are resolved. He called for evolving a joint strategy for bringing the people of Balochistan back
to the mainstream.”

Nawaz urged the government to declare Gwadar as a free port, as he believes that it would do a world of good to Pakistan’s economy. He believes that it will enhance Pakistan’s trading relations with other countries.

“As the third port of the country, Gwadar port has the potential and capability to compete with other ports in the region and it can be of great financial benefits not only to Balochistan but to the entire country.” added the PML
(n) chairman

The former chief minister of Punjab also slammed the PPP government for not taking any action against the killing of Nawab Akbar Bugti. The Balochi leader was killed in a drown attack ordered by Pervez Musharraf.

“Why is the government not taking steps against the killing of Nawab Akbar Bugti when there is no martial law in the country?” he asked.

Nawaz has promised the Balochi people that he will give them their rights if his party assumes the office in the next elections.
