Taliban once again show their true colors

In an unexpected move, the very Taliban claimed the responsibility of killing 15 abducted Frontier Constabulary soldiers, which once again reduced the chances to start dialogue process. Some sections in the government have strong belief that good-faith negotiations
are possible with the Taliban.

A few days back, the FC personnel were kidnapped during an attack in Khyber Agency. On the other day, the Taliban spokesperson dispersed the information about the killing of abducted troops that was not less than a shock for those seeking reconciliation
from them.

Without any doubt, this brutal act is not being taken by an admirable enemy which follows the rule of battle. It seems that the Taliban had not any interest in civilized behavior, as it used to kidnap the army personnel for their own purposes.

Apart from all reasons, the act of execution to FC personnel is not good enough. The most worsening point is that they did at a time when the government is looking to start negotiation process with them.

However, it will not be a surprise for those who have experiences of Taliban’s dealings in such circumstances.

The Taliban abducted 300 Pakistani troops to which the forces had freed 100 militants in return. However, the Taliban did not fulfill the commitment, killing few of them and sending the dead bodies with mutilated faces.

They were also used to releasing the video footages of soldiers and troops who were summarily killed by placing them in a line.

It is clear for everyone that such brutality and unkindness are stock in trade in the Taliban. A large number of army personnel have been lost their lives in terms of the war on terror.

Dialogue process should be started with certain requirements if we still want negotiations with the Taliban. Among them, first should be that no party will execute any person and failure to obey this lead to an instant stoppage of talks.

The Taliban will have to change their violent ways if they really want to negotiate on an equal footings. The two sides will have to accept few things of other party in order to make the dialogue successful.

The government will have to accept that their rule will subordinate to the Taliban while the latter will have to quit the terror actions. Finally, the government should realize that the talks could not be successful until the Taliban surrender their arms.
