Winter season: a blessing for Pakistanis
Monday, January 9th, 2012 5:27:12 by Sharjeel AhmadWith murderous hike in the ratio of global warming, winter season has turned to be a gift for the Poor Pakistanis who have to endure scorching heat in summer coupled with unabated electricity load shedding. The significance of this gift will be badly realised
after a decade as temperature of the planet in likely to go up to a great extent by that time.
The day is not very far when we will be craving for fogs and snow fallings. The duration of summer will keep decreasing with every passing month; and this is destined to happen as we are rapidly ruining nature’s ecosystem which has been working as a shield
for as against the harmful forces of this universe.
If you meet an old farmer and ask him to compare the current winter season with that of 20 years back, he will surely answer that what we are experiencing today is not winter at all. He will also tell you that there were layers of snow beneath the flowing
water in fields a few years back, but it does not happen now.
Why is it so? It is due to the devastating effects of environmental pollution which we are producing vehemently via our vehicles, industries and Air Conditioners. Though all these things are necessary for living a comfortable life, but their advantages are
not equally distributed among all classes of the society.
If we go to stats, there are only ten to fifteen percent of the Pakistanis who possess facilities to fight against the odds of weathers, while the rest ninety percept people are just suffering. They are destined to suffer as they do not have enough means
at their helm to perk up. Thus, it will not be wrong to say that a handful people are living on the expense of a huge majority.
What happens when summer comes, it brings ruinous temperature coupled with Malaria and Dengue in its wake. Due to power outages, people are able to sleep even for two hours at night, and the unfortunate one, who sleeps, is stung by the killing mosquitoes.
So what the deprived sections of the society can do is to be thankful of God who grants them winter season every year to take a few sighs of relief.
There seems to be no solution of the global warming in foreseeable future, as there is no solution except bringing the entire public at the level of equality; whether upwards or downwards.
