Acer comes forward with its new line of ultrabooks – Part 2
Monday, January 9th, 2012 12:53:34 by Usman KhalidThe next announcement was the Aspire S5, the flagship laptop line from the company for more than a decade now. The catchphrase of this successor to the mainstream laptop segment from Acer was the sheer size.
The company claimed that Aspire S5 is the slimmest notebook in the contemporary market. This might be wowing sign for the company but how long can they keep the claim, when every other tech giant has protruded into this segment and is trying to shave millimetres off their devices, both in notebooks and tablets.
Sure, the laptop look flamboyant on-stage but what good it would bring to the users other than the looks is still to be found when it hits the display counter at the show. Vegas will be crowded by ultrabooks in this year’s show and there is doubt that Acer will manage to sneak out with the claim when show winds up after three days.
As far as the specs are concerned, the final report is pending till to device is given a closer look at the show. However, there is not much expected from Acer to bring to the table with device other than the dimensions.
Furthermore, the company also revealed there new tablet at the press conference but in a video which was annoyingly short. Acer however, announced that this new tablet will have the highest resolution in the market. Moreover, the slate will be powered by a powerful quad-core processor however; at what speed is it clocked is still to be determined.
The new slate will no doubt catch a lot of attention at the show but its sales are subject to number of applications and games in particular that would be able to utilize its specifications.
