Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi diagnosed with Lymphoma
Tuesday, January 10th, 2012 3:24:36 by Haris AnsariBlack Sabbath guitarist, Tony Iommi, has been diagnosed with the early stages of lymphoma, cancer of the lymphocytes. News confirm that he is currently working with a team of doctors to find the best possible treatment routine.
Lymphoma is defined as a cancer of Lymphocytes, a type of cell that forms part of the immune system. Its treatment might involve radiotherapy, chemotherapy or bone marrow transplantation and it can be cured depending upon the type, histology and stage of
the disease.
According to the band’s official statement, Iommi is not demoralised and looking upbeat and is determined to make a fully successful recovery.
The news has struck hard on Sabbath’s fans, and several of his admirers have offered their best wishes through Twitter.
Furthermore, Anthrax, Slash, Disturbed’s David Draiman, Sebastian Bach and other Rock icons were also in severe shock after hearing the news. Along with many others, they also offered their sincere wishes to the legendary guitarist, who foresees a tough
battle with his disease.
